Ever listened to an album dozens of times, and then one day suddenly realise how brilliant one of the songs is – one that you had never noticed before? This happened to me the other day, with Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly’s song “Moving Forward” from his second album Searching For The Hows and Whys. GCWF is one of my favourite artists. He writes sublime acoustic folk with home made beats – folktronica before there was folktronica. Mike’s Top 10 of 2010 – ALBUMS

What a great year for music. Here’s my take on the what I thought the best albums of 2010 were. Best Albums Wavves – “King of the Beach” Scratchy guitars and shouty songs about going to the beach and being an idiot. This album is irresistible – it’s impossible not to get excited by Wavves’ energy. Definitely the album I’ve listened to the most this year, I really can’t recommend this highly enough. Best Coast – “Crazy for You” It’s unashamedly pop music – which is perhaps why it was missing from a lot of people’s end of year lists – but that’s what I like about it. Sunny melodies, guitars and giant pop hooks. A breath of fresh air, and a great summer soundtrack. 10 Great Albums From The Last Decade That You May Have Missed

An article I wrote a few months ago for MusicHype. I’d been thinking about all these great albums I had that never really took off, for whatever reason. All of them are really great albums – there was no filler to pad out the content and get numbers up to ten. The great thing about the internet age is that music is available to everyone, all the time. Musical trends are less important than they used to be – if you’re a fan of a certain type of music, chances are someone, somewhere is doing it with a sizeable internet following.
